Selection Processes

The selection process of the Department of Public Administration is as follows:

  • The Selection Committee convenes to process application forms received on time;
  • The applicants have to meet the minimum admission requirements as laid down above; and selection is based on merit;
  • Priority is given to students who applied on time and met the Departmental entry requirements, also giving access to rural poor, and gender equity;
  • Due to the influx of Mature Age and N6 applicants, selection in these categories is on a first-come-first-serve basis;
  • Transferring students have to first meet the Departmental entry requirements as well as the subject/programme pre-requisites; and apply for credits using the Credit Application Form signed by the respective Departments before a decision is reached.
  • It should be noted that if a qualification has assisted an applicant to gain entry into a programme it cannot be used for credit application, as that will constitute double dipping.
